Yang Fudongs 'First Spring' for Prada

'First Spring' is a short film that Chinese art star Yang Fudong created for Prada last year, to represent Prada's 'new direction' in visual communication.

The name 'first spring' is inspired by the Chinese adage "the whole years work will depend on a good start in the spring.'

It is set in 30s/40's Shanghai, and follows a series of young men around as they travel through a dream-like World meeting various characters.

It intertwines traditional Chinese culture with western culture, referencing the expanding luxury market both digitally and in China.

Inspired by the promise and opportunities of the decade, it brings together individuals from disparate classes and creates an unexpected hypnotic narrative, (with clear surrealist art references) and a bleak overtone contrasted with the beautiful models.

Amazing!
