London Fashion Designers Fashion Show!

Wow, I got the opportunity to help at the launch of a new event presenting up and coming London Fashion designers and their collections in September. It was absolutely amazing and I got to meet so many lovely people. We even got to be dressers! Eek! Their was soo much pressure! Especially at one point when one of the models I was dressing got stuck in one of the outfits! But it worked out brilliantly and the show wasn't affected in the slightest! Thank God! The Shows are becoming more regular so hopefully they'll have me back! Photos to follow ...

The Sue Ryder Care Charity Shop!

Throughout the Summer I volunteered in the Sue Ryder Care Charity Shop in Somerset. Beside meeting all the other lovely ladies that worked their, I also got to help a wonderful charity; who help give people care with end of  life and long term healthcare needs.

It taught me a bit about how charities work, retail and how to change the window displays! It's always good to learn new tricks! Photos to follow ...   

My final Project: year zero

My final Project was based on the current recession, and I drew inspiration from 'The Great Depression' in the 20s/30s. I reconstructed an old male jacket from a charity shop and made it reversible. I made it from completely recycled materials; a 'make do and mend' type garment, with one side of the jacket created by weaving current newspaper articles based on the recession through one another. I then photographed it, with the lovely Karl as my model, to create (hopefully) an old feel about it - suggesting this idea of old concept, in a modern world; much like the recession now.

A skirt I made last year based on silence/noise

For my project last year we had to make a garment based on antithesis - From this I was lead to silence/noise and after researching, I decided to make something where the colour portrayed the silence, and the movement of the garment affected the noise it made.
So I decided to make the skirt white, and covered it with things that created noise - for example it's lined with carrier bags, it has tubes over the top of the skirt that are filled with noise materials, rice etc. 

I'd really like feedback on this as it's one of my first creations .. so please feel free!
